WordPress.com (the hosted version of the WordPress open source project) sent a newsletter with a writing prompt for this month. It was more of a word. The word was bridge.

At first I shrugged it off and went about my day. But the more I thought about it, I realized we're on a bridge right now. Both in business and in life in general.

For more than 2 years, we've been in "pandemic-mode" with Covid-19. Now that the cases have dropped and we're learning to live with this "new normal." We're bridging between what we knew as life for the past 2+ years to some semblance of what it was like prior to March 2020.

We're bridging the gap in technology and learning how to both work remote and in person. We're learning how to conduct ourselves on Zoom calls and in coffee shops, sometimes at the same time. We're in a Venice-like world right now full of bridges, where we can choose which way to go.

Producing this newsletter is a labor of love for me. I love writing it and curating the links (below), but it cost money. If you're enjoying the newsletter and can forego a coffee at a local coffee shop once or twice a week to support this endeavor, I'd much appreciate it. I use ActiveWords daily! I highly recommend the program. It's the best in class.

Web Finds Of The Week

  • This article makes a very valid point that it's best to grow your network before you actually need it. Find people you have similar interests with, both in business and personally, find people who compliment what you're doing and you compliment what they are doing. In the long run, having a network of people to go to for advice and even investment is a lot easier than going out there blind. A built network equals trust if done right.
  • It was only a matter of time before Twitter got on the podcast bandwagon. It'll be interesting to see how it's implemented and how it's used by users.
  • Great tips from Ahrefs on how to best promote your content online to get more people reading it.
  • An interesting technique that is simple to do from the people over at Ahrefs.
  • Instagram is constantly adapting their platform to make it more appealing to creators and content contributors. This is just the latest and there will be more to come.
  • I've always wondered how someone could produce a live stream on Instagram and keep track of the comments flooding in. Instagram has just solved this with a new moderator option for live streams.
  • No-Code is taking the Web by storm. Here are some great growth tools for marketers.
