My co-founder and I consider his sister to be a trusted confidant. So when she told us that she’s uncomfortable providing her email address to companies—including ours!—and didn’t want more email clogging up her inbox, it made us stop in our tracks. Could this be true across the board? We …
You’re a Content Marketer, Not a Writer
Most content marketers have a “writer brain.” It’s the part of them that appreciates beautiful, clever writing. It’s instilled in them by years of reading fiction, writing essays, and aspiring to be a professional writer. The “writer brain” helps content marketers in the early part of their career, but, left …

For the past 3 years, I’ve been collecting marketing tips for personal reference.
Here are the ones I come back to the most:

My top 5 learnings from spending 200k on Facebook Ads
- Always optimize for the intended result
Facebook knows who’s most likely to purchase from an ad, engage with an ad, click an ad, or simply do nothing. If you’re optimizing for link clicks, Facebook is great at finding the people who are most likely to click on your ad. However, …

I am so terribly bored at my job. This is my first job out of college and I was told it was going to be in "marketing," which is what I studied. But so far it's apparent that this is a glorified office assistant position. Basically all that my predecessor …

The first 90 days of a launch should be focused on:
• refining messaging
• website conv. rate
• ad creative
• merchandising.
Look for clues in:
• paid-social ad comments
• DMs from social
• customer service inquiries/questions
• NPS
Focus on what the customer wants.
I love it when I ask someone a question and they say "it depends" because they realize that nuance and circumstances prevent what seems like universal advice being successfully copied and pasted into a strategy or plan.
At the end of the day, it depends.
These “How I made $$$ in one day/week/month” posts would be so much better if they also mentioned all the years spent trying and failing.
I love it when I am interviewing someone and they have someone (cat, kid, sig other) walking around in the background and DO NOT apologize for it or even flinch at it happening.
We're all doing the best we can with the tools we got in this pandemic.
Thank goodness for Gmail's 'unsend' feature.
Nearly sent this to a Founder before catching it in the undo window:
"I know you're busty, so I'll do my best to keep this brief."
Might've raised her eyebrows. I would have had to walk into the sea.
I laughed way too hard at this.
How to calculate TAM for your startup:
Buy a $1,400 Gartner report on your industry.
Throw that report away. You won't need it.
Google image search the founders of the companies in your space.
If there aren't *a lot* of photos of them next to yachts, the TAM is too small.
i know i say this often, but it's true. it's a good time to be a content marketer.
the skills required to succeed set you up for success in many fields, not just content. plus good pay, good benefits and upward mobility.
Tried to find a platform to manage mental health for my team (get them counseling on the company's dime, privately) - but turns out all companies in this space cater to the enterprise. We get turned down because not enough people.
Small business life is hard.

Is it just me, or this @AdWorldOfficial poster looks like it's some huge music festival and not a digital marketing conference. 😆
When I started this job I would have said I was an 8 or 9 on a 1-10 scale w 10 being “I know ecomm operators inside and out”.
After talking to 2 dozen customers I’d rate myself a 4 or 5.
I don’t know what I don’t know. And that’s the greatest gift I can bring to this work.
Job hunters - If you've been rejected, its not always a complete NO
It's nearly always a not right now.
When we (business owners hire) we hire very specific skills gaps that we need at that moment in time. You grow and so do we, the opportunity WILL come back around
