Inside Intercom - Go slow to grow fast

Scaling a company can be rewarding, but also exhausting. This is especially true after the challenging year (and a half) we’ve all experienced. Taking frequent breaks is essential for the wellbeing and mental health of your staff and, ultimately, the longevity of your company.

This week Intercom is shutting down our “virtual” offices and giving employees a week-long break. A chance to relax, unwind, and forget about our to-do lists. This is a small example of how we’re living our company values of optimizing for the long term and making every day count. Because sometimes the fastest way to grow is to go slow.

Speaking of growth, we strongly believe that a company’s career ladder shouldn’t solely provide a linear path to the top of the management chain.
