It started with me podcasting to share stories with friends. Every time I spoke, however, I sounded lifeless like a stressed-out amateur.

I believe a lot of what you learn at a big company can be really valuable - but you can't simply apply it directly in a startup. I successfully "startupified" a lot of stuff I learned at big co's. The trick is knowing what to keep, what to modify, and what to throw away entirely

Nikita Bier @nikitabier

If you work at a big company, virtually none of your skills will be transferable to starting a company. “Waiting to get more experience” is not only a waste of time but may actually net out negative: your risk appetite, scrappiness, and foolishness will all take a hit.

Interesting that all the why now's I've seen fall into 3 buckets:
1. Adoption or advancements in an internet platform (e.g. smartphone, web browser)
2. A change in people’s behavior (e.g. e-commerce, pandemic)
3. Changes in regulation <-- Rare

Too many marketers just bring a list of tactics, and can't operate within a mental model of a growth engine or a process.

It's surprisingly hard, esp for younger folks. You need quite a bit of well rounded experience before you grasp models, systems, process.
